Motorcycle Chain Daily Do's and Don'ts Points?


The motorcycle chain is a part of the motorcycle. When the sprocket is installed, it should be kept without skew and swing. 

When the two sprockets are in the same transmission, their end faces should be in the same plane, and the allowable deviation

 is 1 mm when the sprocket center distance is less than 0.5 meters; when the sprocket center distance is greater than 0.5 meters, 

the allowable deviation is 2 mm. However, the sprocket teeth are not allowed to rub against each other, because too large a 

wheelbase will cause the chain to derail and accelerate wear. When replacing the sprocket, pay attention to checking and adjusting

 the offset of the sprocket. The tightness of the lifting chain needs to be appropriate. If it is too tight, it will increase power 

consumption and cause bearing wear; if it is too loose, it is easy to cause chain jumping and derailment. The tightness of the chain 

refers to the change in the center distance of the two sprockets when lifting or pressing down from the middle of the chain. 

It should be between 2% and 3%.


If the new lifting chain is too long or elongated after use, it is difficult to adjust, then you can consider removing the chain links,

 but make sure that the number of chain links is even. When disassembling, the chain link should be passed from the back of the 

chain, and the locking plate should be inserted on the outside. The opening of the locking plate should face the opposite direction,

 for example, counterclockwise.


When the sprocket is severely worn, the new sprocket and chain should be replaced at the same time to ensure that they can fit well. 

Do not replace only one of them, otherwise it will cause poor meshing and accelerate the wear of the new sprocket or new chain.

 When the sprocket tooth surface is worn to a certain extent, it should be turned over in time to extend its service life (for sprockets 

that can be turned over).


Do not mix old lifting chains with some new chains, otherwise it may cause transmission shock and even cause the chain to break. 

When using the lifting chain, it is necessary to add lubricating oil to it regularly. In this way, the lubricating oil can enter the gap 

between the roller and the inner sleeve to improve working conditions and reduce wear.
